Dark mountain peaks emerging through low cloud

A landscape, and the life within it.

Black shores and bright water, faces in the wind, animals at the edge of the road. This collection follows more than the scale of Iceland: it makes room for the lives within the landscape. The photographs move through green valleys and volcanic ground, across ice and braided rivers, before following the evening light back towards the coast.

A living landscape.

A river cuts through the green. Sheep gather beneath the slopes, horses cross open ground, and a fox brings the view close. The landscape is never quite empty.

The people in the frame.

A shawl caught by the wind, a yellow jacket against the hillside, a camera held at rest. Small gestures interrupt the wide views and give the journey another scale.

The ground changes colour.

Greens give way to dark volcanic curves and ochre valleys. Above the lake, a single figure marks the distance between the camera and the land.

Close to the ice.

From the glacier’s crevasses to icebergs floating in the lagoon, the same blue changes with the distance. A small figure beneath the ice brings its scale into view.

Water, almost abstract.

Seen from above, the water becomes branching lines and soft curves. The sequence moves from the wider pattern towards its quieter details.

The light on the way back.

Evening reaches the road and settles into the ridges. The last view returns to the coast, where the mountains disappear into weather again.
